Earthquake Early Warning

A sepecial issue of Seismo. Res. Lett., 80 (5) September/October 2009.

Editors:
Richard M Allen University of California, Berkeley
Paolo Gasparini University of Naples
Osamu Kamigaichi Japanese Meterological Agency

Description: This second special issue on earthquake early warning brings together articles from around the world describing methodologies currently being used to provide early warning in various countries, methodologies currently under testing, and experiences in implementing early warning systems. It is intended to complement the special section on early warning in Geophys. Res. Lett. published in March 2009.

The complete special issue is available on the SSA/SRL website

On the Cover: A simple, colorful informational poster prepared by the Japan Meteorological Agency clearly and succinctly tells people what to do when they hear an Earthquake Early Warning (EEW) alert. Though originally prepared in Japanese (back cover), the message translates well into English (front cover) and other languages (see the SSA site for translations in Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian, Chinese, French, German and Spanish.
